YEAR 5 PRODUCTION THURSDAY 19TH OCTOBER - PARENTS ARE TO ASKED TO ENTER THE SCHOOL BUILDING VIA THE JUNIOR HALL DOORS
Cross Country
(Years 5 and 6)

Cross Country Club is held in Terms 1, 2, 3 and 4 (September-November and February-March). This club accommodates children of all abilities, so a returned permission slip guarantees them a place.

Training is held during two assemblies each week and on Sundays we run the Junior ParkRun at the Strand.

Children enjoy the opportunity to run over a variety of distances, challenge themselves by running hills, endurance and sprints. They also play games which encourage running.

There is an opportunity for all runners to enter races, some are competitive and others are friendlies.

You need old clothes (as they may get muddy), trainers and a water bottle.

Going for Gold!

(Years 5 and 6)

Going for Gold takes place in Terms 3 and 4. This club accommodates children selected for their natural ability in running, jumping and throwing.

This is an exciting new group and will involve sessions at school and off site, so the children can gain extra experiences.

As this is such an exclusive club the numbers attending are low, allowing techniques to be carefully studied using the latest theories and technology. The children will also work towards achieving certificates and fabric badges as they achieve new PBs.

Going for Gold letters are handed out at the start of Term 3. These include information about the club, such as the day and time, and permission slips for parents to sign. Please see Miss Edgley for more information.

 
 
Hockey

(Years 5 and 6 – Year 4 in Term 6)

Hockey club takes place in Terms 1 and 6. This club accommodates children of all abilities, so a returned permission slip guarantees them a place.

The club is designed to develop your hockey skills. Small team games will be played either in the hall or outside on the playground. It is a fun, fast, safe and exciting game, regardless of your previous hockey experience.

Some of the children that attend the club will be chosen to play for the school hockey team at the start of Term 2.

Multi-Skills

(Years 3 and 4)

Multi-Skills takes place in Term 3 it accommodates children selected by staff as they have shown a natural sporting ability.

The club will involve sessions at school which further develop the children’s agility, balance and coordination through a range of challenging activities.

After several sessions the children will attend a local tournament. Where they will work towards achieving certificates for bronze, silver or gold!

Multi-Skills letters are handed out at the start of Term 3. These include information about the club, such as the day and time, and permission slips for parents to sign.

Sports Hall Athletics

(Years 3 and 4)

This club takes place in Terms 2 and 3. With trials held in Terms 1 and 2 to decide the the boys and girls chosen for the school competition team. Those chosen are given to opportunity to experience more events in Term 3.
 
Children will get an introduction into jumping for height and length, pull and push throws and running races including hurdles, 

relays and obstacle.

Unfortunately, due to the size of the school hall, only 20-30 children are selected for the main club held in Term Three. These children will also represent the school in at least one local event.

All sessions take place on a Monday from 3.30-4.30.

You will need your PE kit, school trainers and your water bottle.

(Years 5 and 6)

This club takes place in Terms 1, 2 and 3. With trials deciding the children in the team.

Children enjoy the opportunity to run in relay races, including the obstacle, sprint and hurdles. They can develop their jumping and throwing techniques through a wide range of events.

Unfortunately, due to the size of the school hall, only 20 children are selected for the main club held in Term Three. These children will also represent the school in at least one local event. However, the summer athletics club will accommodate children of all abilities.

All sessions take place on a Thursday and end at 4.30. You will need your PE kit, school trainers and your water bottle.If you have any questions or would like more information please see Miss Edgley.

 
 
 
Table Tennis

(Years 5 &6) 

Table Tennis Club is held in Terms 3 and 4 (February-March). This club accommodates children of all abilities, so a returned permission slip guarantees them a place.

Training is held every Thursday after school for one hour.

There is an opportunity to compete in tournaments both friendly and competitive.

You need a PE kit and a water bottle.
